On Tuesday, March 29th the West Ottawa Varsity Softball team opened their 2011 season with a come from behind win over host Spring Lake. West Ottawa was very aggressive on the base paths with 8 stolen bases and capitalized on a total of 6 walks from Spring Lake and 2 costly fielding errors to sneak out a 6-4 non-conference win. No WO player had more than one hit. Hannah Goble pitched the complete game 3 hitter. During 7 innings Goble struck out 7, walked none and retired the last 14 out of 15 batters she faced.
Besides for a scrimmage against Caledonia on Wed., 3/30, the Panthers are idol until their home opener versus Muskegon Reeths Puffer on Tuesday, April 12th.
The JV softball team also beat Spring Lake in their home opener with a final score of 14-4 in 5 innings.
